Restaurants in Padstow in Cornwall are reporting a huge influx of customers thanks to a bumper season of tourists holidaying in the resort this summer.

Several restaurants are reporting record trade as the Cornish coastal town heaves with holidaymakers during the busy school holiday period. One such restaurant is Burgers & Fish which has been almost full to capacity from mid-morning until nightfall daily for several weeks now.

Restaurant owner Redas Katauskas said: “I have never seen Padstow so busy. The narrow streets are thick with people enjoying the harbour, shops and galleries in the town. Naturally restaurants are very busy catering for these hungry tourists. It’s just a shame that we sometimes have to turn people away because we are so busy.”

Local business owners are attributing the bumper trade to Padstow’s growing reputation as a national foodie hotspot and the high profile Cornwall enjoys in the media thanks to television shows like BBC’s Poldark.

Padstow offers a slice of Cornish heaven for visiting tourists. As well as dramatic coastal scenery, Padstow is a bustling fishing port which is a source of fresh produce for the popular restaurants in the town made famous by celebrity chef Rick Stein.

Restaurants such as Burgers & Fish are carving their own niche in one of Cornwall’s most popular holiday destinations. The restaurant serves a range of gourmet burgers and local fish dishes, all cooked to order on an open charcoal grill.

Since it opened in 2013, Burgers & Fish has become one of the most popular restaurants in Cornwall. This trendy, gourmet restaurant is setting standards which make it a favourite eatery for locals as well as holidaymakers, including some well known celebrities.

Redas Katauskas commented: “Our success shows there is strong demand for quality food in Padstow. Obviously we are thankful for the huge boost that the summer brings. It has been a fantastic season so far.”
