Oscar’s Palm Springs Owner Reopens Luchows Chinese Restaurant For Take-Out Only

Restaurateur/nightlife impresario Dan Gore has purchased Luchows, an Asian dining establishment, in Palm Springs, Calif. The restaurant closed during the pandemic and was not expected to re-open, so Gore took it over for take-out now with plans to become full-service in the months ahead.

One of the desert’s most popular restaurateurs has added another dimension to the Palm Springs dining landscape with the reopening of Luchows, one of the area’s few Asian restaurants that closed during the pandemic. Dan Gore, proprietor of the popular Oscar’s Palm Springs restaurant/bar/live music venue, has put his unique spin on the Chinese restaurant that is only open for take-out at the time being, Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 pm-10:30 pm and 4 pm-10:30 pm on weekends. Diners may call (760) 656-0045 or visit luchowspalmsprings.com to place their orders.

In addition to traditional soups and appetizers, Luchows features a range of main courses including Kung Pao Beef, Orange Chicken, Ginger Shrimp Curry, Pork & Shrimp Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chinese Pork Ribs and Buddha’s Delight, vegetarian option.

“Though Palm Springs offers a wide array of dining options, there aren’t too many Asian inspired restaurants and when Luchows closed during the pandemic, I knew I had to step in and bring the concept back to life,” said Gore, who is also working on opening another new restaurant, Creme, an upscale dining establishment scheduled to opening in Palm Springs this fall. “The community love Luchows and I’m proud to reopen its doors for the dining public. Though we’re only doing take-out initially, we hope to expand it to being a full-service restaurant in the coming months.”

Oscar’s Palm Springs is Gore’s best known establishment. Situated in the center of the desert city, it is open for dinner nightly and lunch during the high season. It boasts an eclectic menu and full bar. It has gained a reputation for its Bitchiest Drag Brunch on Sundays and weekend Tea Dances that draw hundreds from the LGBTQIA+ community who enjoy dancing to vintage Disco music. On the more provocative side of Oscar’s entertainment lineup are Mimosa Men Saturday Brunches featuring professional male dancers who shed their clothing as guests enjoy a wide variety of dining options along with the popular Champagne beverage. Oscars’ “An Intimate Evening With…” series, which draws celebrities from yesteryear such as Dionne Warwick, the cast of “Knot’s Landing,” Frankie Avalon and Sandra Bernhard to the desert, offers an alternative to the desert’s myriad entertainment options.
