Sharp has found success publishing both traditionally and through self-published works, with both picture books and novels to her name. With such a range of experience, N. L. Sharp is able to go into great detail about both processes as she shares her knowledge and experience.
This means that aspiring writers or new authors wanting to find out more about the industry can learn a lot about both self publishing and traditional publishing. They will also be able to pick up tips about the writing process.
Nebraska author N. L. Sharp has been writing for children for more than 20 years. Her first book, Today I’m Going Fishing With My Dad, was published by Boyds Mills Press in 1993, and was a Nebraska Golden Shower nominee in 1995-1996. In 2003, she created her own publishing company, called Prairieland Press, to publish and market her books.
Effie’s Image was the first book she released under the new company, and was also a Golden Shower nominee in 2007-2008. Her second book for the company, The Flower Girl, The Ring Bear: A Flip-Over Book, was named a Nebraska Center for the Book Award winner for cover illustration and design, while her most recent work, Keeping Captain, a middle grade novel, was released in 2016.
The 2017 Christian Writers Conference will mark the 5th annual conference of its type, and give aspiring writers numerous opportunities to learn about the craft, with tips across a range of subject areas.
