Omaha Personal Injury Lawyer Warns, “Don’t Trust Tools to Determine Payouts”

Share this news:

As the number of people filing personal injury claims continues to grow, the number of people using online tools to determine their payouts increases as well, but should we trust them.

There has been a recent surge in online tools to determine payouts from personal injury cases. People put in their injuries, list some personal information, and then get an estimated payout. The problem is that many of these tools are simply ways to gather information and sell it to other groups.

“We’ve seen many people go to these online tools and get estimates for a payout that are completely inaccurate, Matthew G. Miller, a personal injury attorney in Omaha from Matthew G. Miller, PC, LLO says. “Some people get rates that are far too low whereas others get rates that are too high.”

When someone gets a rate that is too low, they may decide not to seek compensation at all. “Someone will get a compensation rate that is really low and may decide seeking a personal injury claim isn’t worth it. However, these tools cannot know the intricacies of the case. Only a lawyer can really know whether or not a case will be effective.”

At the same time, people are tricked into filing claims for obscenely large claims when they may not receive that. “At the same time, people will come into our offices expecting to hear numbers that are astronomical. While we always fight for the highest compensation rates, some of these rates are unprecedented.”

When using an online tool to determine whether or not you have a claim, personal injury lawyer Miller recommends avoiding all personal information. “Even something as simple as your phone number is extremely valuable to scammers. Put your phone number into one of these tools and you may see an automatic increase in robocalls.”

Always be aware when putting information online that it likely doesn’t stop at that form. “Proceed at your own risk,” the Omaha personal injury lawyer says. “While it may seem easier than reaching out to an actual law firm, it may cause more stress in the long run.”
