Offices.net, America’s online office space rental website, recently shone a spotlight on the rapidly growing business community in the city of Dallas, Texas in a report published on their site.
“Many college graduates are beginning to be attracted to the Dallas area,” said Teresha Aird, Offices.net Marketing Manager. “The city has become renowned for its wealth of job opportunities, comparatively low tax rates and affordable housing. An increasing amount of both young college graduates and established professionals like the idea of working in a bustling city that has great weather and is filled with friendly people.”
Several major industries have helped make Dallas a powerful business city in the U.S, with key industries in the city now including information services, manufacturing, telecommunications, media, logistics and food manufacturing. In recent years, Houston and Dallas have attracted thousands of new residents.
Along with the over 80,000 companies which have made their home in Dallas, a number of Fortune 500 companies also choose to place their main headquarters in the city. Even high-tech start-ups are growing increasingly attracted to Dallas for its favorable tax laws and low rental rates. Dallas is even becoming known as a smaller version of “Silicon Valley” for the numerous tech start-ups that are located in the city.
Other industries that make up the economic base of Dallas include finance, aviation and international trade, as well as a regional hub for investment banking and law. Several large law firms also have offices located in the high-rise buildings in downtown Dallas. In total, over 342,000 Dallas residents are currently employed in the professional and business services field.
“We are seeing a steady growth in the size of the information industry in the city,” continued Teresha Aird. “Over 70,000 people are employed in this field right now, a number that is continuing to rise. Many entrepreneurs who are interested in starting their own tech companies consider opening an office in Dallas, for example young college graduates who are starting a media sharing or social media management firm and it’s people like that that Offices.net is designed to help get a foot in the door.”
