The Good Companions, a leading Care Provider in Cumbria have announced the launch of their innovative care at home service from November 2021. For the first time, this offers a real alternative to a residential care home, for the residents of Penrith and surrounding areas.

-- The whole subject of Care has been in the news, often for all the wrong reasons. So, it comes as a refreshing change to report the launch of the Good Companion’s innovative, Domiciliary Home Care service in Penrith, Carlisle, and surrounding areas on the 30th November 2021.

The Good Companions have been at the forefront of quality care in Cumbria for over 25 years. They constantly achieve “Good rankings” with the CQC (Care Quality Commission), and run one of the best care homes in Cumbria.

The aim of their new domiciliary care service is to empower people to live as independently as possible – in their own homes; without the need to go to a Care Home. This means they can stay in close touch with their relatives, loved ones and even pets! The Good Companions go to unparalleled lengths to treat each customer as an individual, to find out their every need, and tailor their customised care package accordingly.

The Good Companion’s slogan is “Live well at home”. They achieve this with outstanding personalised service, and highly trained, friendly, professional carers.

Managing Director, Mark Newby stated: “We provide a specialist home care service in Carlisle, Penrith, Appleby, Shap, and the rural Eden areas. Our care services offer incredible value, and are all designed to help people to continue to live in their own home; when they need extra care and assistance”.

Announcing the launch at the newly opened Good Companions Care Shop in Penrith, Mark Newby went on to discuss the extensive range of innovative services on offer. Highlighted in a recent TV campaign they include: 24-Hour live-in Care, Dementia Care, Respite Care, Household duties etc, and even Chauffeur driven hospital or shopping trips.

Whilst the Good Companions have built up an enviable reputation for Care and Compassion, they are never complacent and are always looking to improve. New initiatives such as Free Assessments within 24 hrs, better use of technology for care monitoring, and increased supervision from quality insurance officers, are improving communication, and bringing even higher and more consistent standards of care.

Sharon Stubbs, the Good Companions area manager in Penrith, put it succinctly: “If you are an older person or have a physical disability, learning disability or mental health needs, our dedicated home care staff may be able to support you with daily activities – such as getting in and out of bed, getting dressed, and all aspects of personal care, and household activities. This new service is so different from what’s out there, that we hope it will do a lot of good for the local community and raise awareness that going to a Residential Care home is not always the only, or best option! “

The Good Companions is working hard, 24/7, to raise the standard and value of domiciliary care in Cumbria and beyond. Their beautiful care at home fits around your life, is well tailored, flexible, and adaptable – and is based on the belief that age should be celebrated, and that everyone should be able to live happily, comfortably, and independently at home.
