The internet’s newest golf magazine was lunched to great fanfare today. Golfbut.com has gone live in time for the start of the FedEx St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind, Memphis, Tennessee, USA.
Tired of bouncing between the viral sites to search for amusing golf stories and videos, news sites for up to date scores and the established golf magazines for in depth stories, British publisher David Holroyd (who is a distant relation to Queen Elizabeth 2nd) came up with the idea of a magazine that speaks to all fans of golf in one publication – Golfbut.com.
‘I’m old enough to be serious about improving my swing and being up with the leader board but young enough to love watching trick shots and fail videos. I wanted a one-stop-shop’, said Holroyd.
Golfbut.com is aimed at the US market but it is actually put together in the UK giving the site a 5-8 hour head start on the competition for top daily stories. The magazine is entirely on line and is updated in real-time.
General categories cover Golf Stories, Golf Tips, Golf Videos, Golf Trick Shots, Mental Golf, Golf Swing and Putting. Recent articles in beta versions have looked at using subliminal messages in training, tee height, the UFO at Ponte Vedra Beach, Duane Bock’s (Kevin Kisner’s caddie) unfeasibly large calf muscles, 4 year old golfing legend James Grimes, the Dubai clay pigeon trick shot and a few Bryan Brothers videos.
Additionally the Golfbut.com has a live top 10 rankings board and a breaking golf news ticker tape feed. Publisher David Holroyd said ‘In the planning stage the team looked hard to identify every interest within Golf that could feasibly be brought under one publication so that we could represent a very wide range of interests and yet maintain a consistently high quality product, with a relatively small team. We think we go the balance about right’
