When asked about the reasons behind creating this event, the hosts of the event, Kim Henry, owner, BooksOrBooks, and Nancy Nelson, author, Blue.River.Apple. A Continuing Exploration of Alzheimer’s Through Poetry. said:
“Join us as we help raise money for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Nevada organization. A percentage of books sold by participating authors will be donated to the cause. For all those family members or caregivers who have a loved one living with Alzheimer’s, please feel free to attend the Alz. Café at the same location and time, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
41,000 people in Nevada alone have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia. By 2025, that figure will rise by 56% for people aged 65+. Sadly, right now there is no cure. No new medications that work. But there is hope!!”
GoalDen Solutions President, Darcey Hall, also interviewed Kim Henry of BooksOrBooks at the recent Water Street District Business Association monthly meeting. The video can be found on their Facebook page.
