In a significant upgrade to its facilities, the Waukesha Police Department (WPD) collaborated with Spacesaver, which designed and implemented a new evidence storage solution. The project, which commenced as part of the department's transition to its new headquarters, saw the corporation's in-house engineering and design teams working closely with WPD to create a tailored solution. The integration of USB charging ports within the evidence lockers ensures that confiscated digital devices, such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets, remain fully charged and operational. This feature allows the department to maintain the integrity of digital evidence until a PD technician processes it. The secure storage solution was manufactured in the United States using heavy-duty 14-gauge and 18-gauge welded steel.
Maintaining an indisputable chain of evidence custody was the WPD's top priority, and the new storage solution was designed to meet this need. Spacesaver has built, customized, and installed temporary and long-term evidence storage solutions for police departments across the United States.
