A Whatcom pet care company will be opening a new dog daycare and kennel-free dog boarding facility near the Bellingham airport soon.

-- A Bellingham pet care company called The Puget Hound will be opening a new doggie daycare and “kennel-free” pet boarding facility within the next month or two at the former Whatcom Humane Society building.

The company announced that their new location is conveniently located near the airport and will feature over 20,000 square feet of play areas for pets, as well as Bellingham’s first and only kennel-free dog boarding service. This model allows for dogs to enjoy more social interaction, personalized care, and a more pleasant experience while their owners are away.

The overnight “staycare” service will give pet owners peace of mind that their dogs are being individually cared for with constant supervision throughout the night instead of being left alone in a cage for long periods of time. The company will also be providing “privacy suites” for dogs who don’t get along well with others.

In addition to the kennel-free dog boarding service, the location will feature large and secure dog daycare yards complete with agility and playground equipment. Their “adventure park” obstacle course will provide endless ways for dogs to exercise and improve their physical health and cognitive abilities with their playmates.

Existing clients of the company expressed many positive and excited remarks about the new service for Bellingham, and the company released an entertaining trailer to announce the upcoming opening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_90vMc5IJQ

In addition to dog daycare, pet boarding, and their existing services, the company said they plan on eventually providing pet supplies like dog food and treats in addition to grooming and training services. They also plan to expand their facility to accommodate additional pets like cats, birds, reptiles, rodents, lizards and other small animals. The company hopes to complete renovations of the building within the next month or so, and open their doors sometime in August.
