The DC Aggie Athletic Foundation announces the 16th Annual DC Aggie Golf Classic, a fundraiser for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (NCAT) State University’s athletic programs. All funds directly contribute to initiatives benefiting NCAT student-athletes, such as academic counseling, study skills development, and scholarships.

Funds raised at the newly announced 16th Annual DC Aggie Golf Classic will support the extraordinary athletic programs of the nation’s largest Historically Black College and University (HBCU). In addition to hosting outstanding athletic programs, NCAT State University is the only HBCU in North Carolina that has the triple distinction of being a doctoral, high research activity, and land-grant institution.

Among NCAT State University’s athletic achievements, as of July 1, 2022, the overwhelming majority of the university’s sports teams and student-athletes successfully transitioned to compete in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In July 2023, the university’s football team joined the CAA Conference, moving it closer toward becoming the first HBCU to be a part of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

By fundraising through its 16th Annual Golf Classic, the DC Aggie Athletic Foundation aims to foster the athletic and academic development of NCAT State University’s student-athletes, supporting their future achievements. Funds raised will contribute to athletic scholarships, facilities, equipment, and other resources that promote high performance in varsity sports.

“The sole objective of this organization is to raise funds for Aggie Athletics,” a foundation spokesperson said. “All monies earned from this outing will directly benefit Aggie student-athletics, by supporting academic counseling, proactive monitoring, study skills, development workshops, tutoring programs, career counseling services, and scholarships.”

The 2024 DC Aggie Golf Classic will be held on June 21, 2024 at the Oak Creek Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The format will be a four-person scramble, with teams of four players each, all of whom contribute to the team score. Members of the winning team will receive trophies, and individual golfers can also compete for hole prizes for the longest drive and for the tee shot that comes closest to the pin.

All players will enjoy one of the best golf courses in Prince George's County. Oak Creek’s classic championship course boasts an 18-hole, par-71 layout of 7,000 yards with beautiful tree-lined fairways and favorable course conditions year-round.

Non-golfing attendees can participate to win prizes in board and card games, which will be held inside the clubhouse. Both golfers and non-golfers will share a buffet lunch together.
