-- The DC Aggie Athletic Foundation is proud to continue its support of North Carolina A&T (NCAT) State University’s tradition of academic and athletic excellence with the upcoming Annual Dr. James R. Lanier DC Aggie Golf Classic. Since 2008, the classic has provided vital support for Aggie student-athletes, funding academic counseling, study skills, and tutoring programs, as well as career counseling and scholarships.

At the classic, supporters of NCAT athletics programs and golfers will come together to champion the university’s outstanding reputation as the nation’s largest Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Additionally, NCAT is the state’s only HBCU to hold the triple distinction of being a doctoral, high-research activity, and land-grant institution.
Among its athletic achievements, all of NCAT’s sports teams were able to successfully transition to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in July 2022. In July 2023, the university’s football team joined the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Conference, on the path to becoming the first HBCU to join the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
The DC Aggie Athletic Foundation is dedicated to supporting NCAT’s Athletics Department by promoting its student-athletes’ progress in sports and academics. These efforts include raising funds for athletic scholarships, facilities, equipment, and other resources to foster high performance in varsity sports and to provide high-quality experiences for student-athletes and supporters alike.
This year’s Dr. James R. Lanier DC Aggie Golf Classic will take place on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Oak Creek Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, Prince George's County, Maryland. Golfing participants will enjoy excellent conditions on the club’s semi-private, championship course, featuring a classic, 18-hole, par-71 layout of 7,000 lush, tree-lined yards.
Non-golfing participants will have a chance to compete and win prizes, too, by participating in board and card games inside the club during the golfing tournament. When the games are finished, both parties will come together to share a buffet lunch.
“We invite you to join us for another delightful day of golf at the picturesque Oak Creek Golf Club,” a foundation spokesperson says. “Your participation and support contribute to the legacy of excellence and opportunity that defines NCAT and its commitment to fostering the holistic development of student-athletes.”
