Montreal Pride Announces the Theme for 14th Edition & Opens its Registrations

14th Edition of Montréal Pride Festival Opens Registrations for Organizations and Companies

The Montreal Pride festival, presented by TD, will celebrate its fourteenth edition from August 6 to 16, 2020. The 2019 edition of the largest gathering of sexual & gender diversity (SGD) communities in Canada and the Francophone World was a resounding success with 3.4 million admissions to the 250 events held at Parc des Faubourgs as well as in multiple locations in the greater Montréal region. Organizations and businesses are invited to register for the Pride Parade and the Community Day before July 3, 2020, by filling out the single application form available the website.

Registrations

Organizations, unions and businesses can now register directly on the Montreal Pride festival website at the following link: https://fiertemtl.com/en/take-part/registration/ until Friday, July 3, 2020. Montreal Pride recommends early registration to guarantee a space, especially for Community Day. Last year, Community Day reached full capacity before the end of regular registrations.

As of March 2, 2020, Montreal Pride will once again award a participation scholarship to Montreal-based non-profit LGBTQ+ organizations with an annual budget inferior to $100,000. At Montreal Pride’s expense, they will be given: a vinyl banner, sweaters with their logo for the parade, 3,000 copies of promotional brochures, as well as other surprises. Information will follow regarding the scholarship program for early-bird organizations.

Pride Parade Theme

After decorating Rene-Levesque Boulevard with the six colors of the rainbow flag commonly used today, the theme of the 2020 Pride Parade will be pink; a color that was part of Gilbert Baker’s original creation in 1978. Pink was initially the first color of the flag, preceding red and referring to sexuality. However, due to the lack of that textile tint, it was removed from the flag. This year, the Pride Parade, presented on August 16, will be nuanced with an array of variations linked to the theme of sexuality, with respect, consent and praise for diversity!

Program

The Montreal Pride Festival will proudly launch the entirety of its free programming by the end of July 2020. Marked by the return of favorite shows, the festival is once again planning a major program with more than 250 events to be held at Parc des Faubourgs, accessible from the Papineau metro at the foot of the Village, on the TD main stage as well as the Espace Casino de Montréal’s interior stage. Spread over eleven days of celebrations, new show concepts are planned that will leave our festival-goers wanting more.
