While the concept of sound bathing has its roots in ancient eastern spiritual practice, it has only recently gained traction among practitioners of New Age spiritual healing. It has found a place in yoga classes and meditative practice, where it is said to enhance focus while encouraging grounded presence and mindfulness.
1111 Vibe offers sound bathing in small group settings or individual sessions by appointment only. Group sessions are offered every Sunday beginning at 6 p.m.; eye masks, floor mats, and cushions are all provided by the practice, though participants are encouraged to bring additional comfort items to ensure the most relaxing experience possible.
During each session, instructor Andrew Clark guides participants through a meditative routine, using implements such as crystal singing bowls to create a soundscape of resonant frequencies. His collection of instruments is crafted using clear quartz, which is known for the pure tone it is able to produce.
Additionally, the studio will provide a range of products from Aura Soma, including crystals, essential oils, and plants, intended to enhance the relaxing environment within the studio space. Clark is a registered practitioner of the Aura Soma method, and has used their products according to principles laid out in the fields of color theory and feng shui.
Clark’s qualifications are further described on the practice’s website: “Through his own physical challenges in life Andrew discovered he had a natural ability to heal and over time developed a vibrational modality that became the first accredited sound healing certification program in 2005, known as Crystal Sonic Healing by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, NCBTMB.”
