-- Crafted from FSC-certified, 100% Australian recycled timber, Reconstructed’s new furniture selection offers a sustainable choice for customers’ homes. Primarily made from messmate, known for its strength and versatility, each piece boasts a distinctive grain pattern, color variation, and character.

Committed to net zero carbon emissions, the company repurposes timber that would otherwise end up in landfills. Moreover, it helps reduce the volume of virgin wood harvested from forests serving as vital carbon sinks and biodiversity havens: “Two million acres of forest are converted to fast timber plantations globally. By recycling timber, we are helping to save our precious forests,” said a spokesperson for Reconstructed.
The company’s timber recycling process begins with sustainable demolition in partnership with The Salvage Center, who collect as much reusable material as possible from old buildings, factories, and construction sites. The wood undergoes stringent quality control at the Geelong warehouse before it is re-milled and crafted into furniture by skilled artisans in Malaysia, then sent back to Geelong for distribution.
Highlights from the catalogue include a variety of freestanding and floating vanities for bedrooms and bathrooms. One such design is the Delta Floating Vanity, featuring textured veneers, available in lengths ranging from 900 mm to 2100 mm, with 3 to 8 drawers.
For dining rooms and kitchens, customers can choose from rectangular, oval, and round tables. A statement piece is the black Freycinet Messmate Dining Table, characterized by its oversized pillar legs, in sizes up to 3000mm x 1200mm.
Other products include bed frames, side tables, and tallboys, as well as entertainment consoles and bench seats, which can be customized to meet customers’ space requirements and preferences. All items are finished with the same lacquer used on Reconstructed’s flooring to enhance the wood’s natural beauty and protect against wear and tear.
“As the population has grown, we have found ways to make things faster, cheaper, and more efficient but the downside to this is that quality is lost,” said a spokesperson for the company. “At Reconstructed, we believe that old timber is better than new. It's stronger, harder, more stable, and loaded with character. Every piece has its own story to tell.”
