With this expansion, Advance Care aims to bring flexible patient financing to 22.8 million US adults who qualify for bariatric surgery but are not covered by insurance or a health plan. The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) estimates that as of 2017, less than 1 percent of those eligible for this surgery received treatment.
Advance Care Cards offer patients access to 6 or 14 months of zero-interest financing directly through banks and financial institutions. In addition, these patient cards can be used to pay for other weight management treatments and services, including gym memberships, nutrition evaluations, fat-burning supplements, targeted weight loss medications, and personal trainers.
Patients can expect a secure card application process online and relatively quick approvals. Most approvals are instant, while some may take 24 to 48 hours. Advance Care medical financing products are available at competitive interest rates, and applicants with high credit scores can receive funding of up to $25,000.
To be approved, applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet the minimum criteria of a monthly income of $1,500, no bankruptcy in the last five years, and not being sent to collections for three years. Interest rates are based on an applicant's creditworthiness and financial health at the time of the application. Advance Care recommends applicants with poor credit work with a co-signer to improve the chances of approval.
The CDC estimates that obesity costs the US healthcare system nearly $173 billion annually, with obesity-related absenteeism resulting in productivity losses as high as $6.38 billion. For over 15 years, Advance Care has built and evolved its patient financing products to care for those most in need of access to weight management solutions. These cards carry no punitive late fees or prepayment penalties.
With bariatric surgery proven the most effective long-term treatment for severe obesity, the Advance Care team makes this treatment more accessible to patients across the US. Advance Care cards can also pay for weight management procedures through medical tourism.
According to a spokesperson for the patient care card provider, "Weight management is critical to the active lifestyle we all want to enjoy. Advance Care can help you meet your weight loss goals by offering affordable financing to support your weight management program or bariatric surgery."
