Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center (805-557-9930), now offers Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation therapy to patients in Malibu for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

The sleep medicine center led by Dr. Ronald A. Popper has expanded its practice to better serve clients in Malibu, Simi Valley, Conejo Valley, and the San Fernando Valley regions. The center specializes in several treatments for sleep apnea and offers innovative Inspire therapy as an alternative to patients who find no relief with CPAP.

More information about Inspire therapy can be found at:

Inspire therapy is a relatively new treatment option for people suffering from OSA. Unlike traditional CPAP, Inspire works with the patient’s natural breathing processes. During sleep, Inspire stimulates the hypoglossal nerve which controls the movement of airway muscles including the tongue. This stimulation causes the airway to clear which aids breathing while asleep.

Dr. Popper recommends Inspire therapy to patients unable to tolerate CPAP and considers it to be a scientific breakthrough in the treatment of OSA. He has seen an improved level of patient satisfaction with the new therapy and is encouraging patients to make an appointment to ascertain if Inspire therapy would be suitable for them.

Inspire therapy involves the implantation of a small device that is controlled by the patient via the Inspire Sleep Remote. Implantation is an outpatient procedure and this form of OSA therapy is covered by more than 230 insurers.

Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center offers several treatment options for people who have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep at night. They are experts in the diagnosis of insomnia, snoring, and other sleep disorders.

Founded in 1984, the Medical Director of the center is Dr. Ronald A. Popper. He is board-certified in Sleep Disorders Medicine and a pioneer in the field of sleep medicine. The center is located in Thousand Oaks, CA, and serves a wide area of Southern California, including Los Angeles, Malibu, Westlake Village, and Camarillo.

According to a satisfied patient, “I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea over 20 years ago. I tried everything to treat my sleep apnea: various types of masks, oral appliances, and even surgery. Nothing worked until I tried Inspire. I highly recommend Dr. Popper.”
