Galaxy Design, a Los Angeles-based high-end drapery provider, has been featured in Window Fashion Vision magazine’s September – October 2018 issue for their restoration work on the guest rooms in the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
The published feature describes the challenging task the Galaxy Design team faced with this historic project. “We were asked by hotel management to craft window coverings and bed canopies nearly identical to the ones found in the hotel during the glamorous Roaring Twenties,” said Mehrdad Steve Messri, who owns Los Angeles-based Galaxy Design with his wife Anat.
The Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles has been the home of Hollywood glamour since 1923. This historic-cultural landmark has hosted celebrities, presidents, dignitaries and has served as the backdrop for many movies and television shows. Its frescos, murals, carved marble fountains, crystal chandeliers and embroidered tapestries provide an opulent backdrop for 683 richly appointed guest rooms and suites.
The hotel has undergone several renovations over the years but when the owners began their latest remodel, “their goal was to restore the location to its original look because they want to keep it as a historical venue,” said Messri.
