According to USA Lacrosse, approximately 1.2 million girls are playing the sport at various levels across the country. While participation continues to rise, access to high-level coaching and instruction for girls has not kept pace. By offering a range of lacrosse training programs, Long Island Sports Training is helping to address this gap.

“Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and the level of competition continues to rise, “ explained a spokesperson for the company. “To meet the new speed, pace, strength, and competitiveness of the game athletes are going to need to practice and stay on top of their game more than ever, and we’re here to help them do that.”

Offensively, participants work on their shooting, passing, dodging, cradling, stick handling, and retrieval of ground balls. They also do several ladder, cone, and quick-feet drills to improve their lateral and vertical explosiveness.

On the defensive side of the ball, participants practice their stick and body checking, and they are taught the specifics of playing man-to-man and zone defense. Goalies can also take part in the programs, honing skills such as goal positioning, stick work, shot anticipation and reaction, and ball distribution.

Long Island Sports Training offers private one-on-one lacrosse sessions or packages of 6 sessions and 12 sessions. Group training, accommodating 4 to 8 players and team training is offered in two-hour session blocks, with a minimum of 8 players. Teams are required to provide their own field or practice facility for team sessions.

“Thanks to Long Island Sports Training, my lacrosse skills have improved considerably,” said a participant in the programs. “The one-on-one coaching helped me focus on my stick handling and footwork, and I’ve become faster and more confident on the field. I’m now playing at a higher level, and I feel ready for my upcoming season.”
