Oakland, USA – August 11th, 2014 /PressCable/ —
Couples who want the skills to create a thriving relationship can take hope. Dr. Jack Crossen and Sinead Smyth, LMFT will be presenting the workshop “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” on Sunday, September 7th, 2014 in Oakland, CA, from 9am – 4pm.
The Seven Principles couples workshop is based on Dr. John Gottman's New York Times best selling book “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.” Drawn from the results of Dr. Gottman's decades long rigorous scientific studies of couples, this 6-hour workshop makes partners aware of the behaviors and attitudes that destroy relationships, and teaches them the basic skills and approaches to make theirs thrive.
Jack Crossen, Ph.D. and Sinead Smyth, LMFT, Certified Gottman Therapists and Seven Principles Educators will be leading the presentation and say “This workshop is not therapy. it is simply a retreat for couples that
teaches powerful, practical and sensible relationship skills, grounded
by science.”
When couples tie together an understanding of the Seven Principles Dr. Gottman has identified with the exercises
included in the workshop, they will learn a set of timeless,
practical tools to heal and strengthen their relationship. They will build communication skills so they can navigate conflict
when it happens (and Dr. Gottman says ALL couples will conflict
occasionally). They will discover ways to chart the path back to
intimacy, and develop practices to create a positive environment that
can dramatically improve the friendship, connection and intimacy in their
relationship.
This enlightening, fun workshop protects the participants' confidentiality. Couples will not be required to share anything
personal with the group. All exercises are done privately, and couples will leave with a book that is easy and fun to read, along
with a workbook full of exercises to help them master the skills, and to
refresh those skills for years to come.
