-- On the heels of the successful publication of her 2023 hit, “The Summer Of Songbirds”, novelist Kristy Woodson Harvey is back with new information about her 11th novel release, due to hit store shelves in June, 2024. The new announcement debuted on Harvey’s blog and included the reveal of the book’s title, cover, and a few plot details to boot.

In the reveal post, Harvey announces that her next release will be titled “A Happier Life”, and will feature all-new characters in a story set in North Carolina. This setting may be familiar to fans of Harvey, as it is not only the author’s home, but also the backdrop for many of Harvey’s other works including her latest release, “The Summer Of Songbirds”.
According to an accompanying blog post, the story will follow Keaton Smith, tasked to sell the house which her mother called home as a child, but which has stood vacant for many years. As she prepares the house for sale, however, she begins to uncover unanswered questions regarding the death of her grandparents years prior.
Following in the footsteps of “The Summer Of Songbirds”, however, this new novel will also feature a multigenerational split narrative, showcasing the unraveling mystery from both the past and present. As such, the tale promises to be one of Harvey’s most ambitious to date, presenting an unraveling mystery enrobed in her signature warmth and southern charm.
As with much of Harvey’s writing, this novel also appears to have been crafted from Harvey’s personal experiences as a North Carolina native. Beaufort, where the story is set, is of particular significance in that way - she spent her summers there as an adolescent, and now serves as a member of the real-life Beaufort Historical Association.
This announcement coincides with the beginning of Harvey’s latest book tour, which will take her across the country to stops that will be announced on a rolling basis in the near future. This tour will allow fans of Harvey’s work to discuss the previous 10 entries in her bibliography while also providing an opportunity to sample “A Happier Life” ahead of its release.
