-- Kenechi, a Chicago based non-profit whose mission is to save the world one at-risk youth at a time, announced the launch of its free streaming platform on January 6, 2021 and the Kenechi Mobile App today. The streaming platform is hosted on Vimeo’s OTT (Over the Top) platform and has a similar look and feel to popular services likes Netflix and Hulu. The Kenechi Mobile App is available for download from Apple and Google Play stores.

The initial release of content on the streaming platform aligns with its mission statement, and the skill tracking Kenechi is evolving. Subscribers to the free service can find videos in the following categories, with new videos being uploaded, as well:

● Featured Films – A film titled “I Am Because We Are” examines the lives of six black students that go through a reflective experience in a predominantly white institution.

● Real Talks – A podcast series with Maurice Tiner, the Program Director at Kenechi, has real conversations with people who have a story to tell. From business owners to financial advisors, Maurice examines their lives and journey to show what they have overcome and where they are now.

● Spoken Word – The talented Vessel Day speaks to everything black people go through dealing with depression, racism, lack of parents, identity conflicts.

● Cooking – The series Cooking with Love teaches families and young adults how to cook wholesome, healthy meals with inexpensive ingredients.

● Exercise by Imani Canton – This seven-part workout series can be done at home and does not require any equipment.

● Tea Time – Another podcast dedicated to finding ways to positively engage in physical, spiritual, and mental health featuring Maurice Tiner and Tyi Stewart-Jones. Maurice Tiner stated, “For black folks and people of color, mental health often looks different, especially in the context of America. We unpack that and use this space as an opportunity to have real conversations with each other on how we’ve engaged with our own mental health.”

These videos establish the foundation for Kenechi’s goal to provide resources for youths, young adults, parents, guardians, and organizations working to achieve a life fulfilled. “As the platform evolves, skill track curriculums will shape more specific training to help at-risk and underserved youths and young adults live a more purposeful life, as well as help parents and guardians, strengthen family relationships,” Len Marchese, the CEO of Kenechi, stated.

When asked what the launch of the streaming platform and mobile app mean for Kenechi, Maurice said, “It really shows who we are, what we care about, what we value, and what we are trying to teach. This is just the beginning of what we stand for and believe in, which is bettering the lives of at-risk youths.”
