Hawaii Yoga Institute is dedicated to encouraging individual strengths regardless of physical ability. A recent update in its training program schedule now offers a hybrid training with a Zoom and in-person instruction beginning March 24. The program offers foundational skills in teaching and hands-on adjustments as well as an introduction to yoga’s origins for a better understanding of why the practice is still relevant today.
The Spring 2022 program meets the requirements of the National Yoga Alliance through an inquiry-based curriculum. The institute’s educational model is designed to facilitate personal development, self-reflection and awareness, movement, meditation, and spirituality in an environment that prioritizes learning, growth, and discovery with others.
Techniques and training offered at the spring 200-hr foundational program are broken into four units.
Participants receive 30 hours of instruction in Anatomy and Physiology, which delves into Asana, Pranayama & Subtle Body, and meditation techniques; 40 hours of Yoga Humanities, which covers yoga’s history, philosophy and ethical scopes and precepts; 30 hours of skeletal, nervous system, cardio, endocrine and respiratory instruction, including joint movement and biomechanics; and 55 hours devoted to teacher methodologies, professional development, a practicum, and the option to add Ayurveda.
