One broker in each state was presented with a 'Business Broker Of The Year' award, while a few other awards including the prestigious 'National Business Broker Of The Year' were also presented.
The awards were based on transactions from the preceding 12 months (July 1 2023 to June 30 2024) and were presented in person at the Morgan Business Sales annual conference which was held at Coolangatta in Queensland.
In the state of Queensland, the winner for the 2023/24 financial year was the dynamic duo of Rod & Deb Jessen. It was the Jessen's third consecutive time taking out the prestigious 'Queensland Business Broker Of The Year' award. Dru Morgan, the director of Morgan Business Sales, was full of praise for Rod & Deb's performance.
"Rod & Deb are fantastic business brokers and a high quality team. It's a huge achievement to take out this award three times in a row. However, if anyone can do it, it's them, and they've proved that. They offer their clients experience and service that is so hard to compete with."
When queried whether he believed the Jessen's could take out the Award again in 2024/25, Mr Morgan declared that while they will be in the mix, they will be hard pressed to achieve the feat for a fourth consecutive time.
"There are so many fantastic businesses in the pipeline at the moment. While the Jessen's will have their share of them, they won't be alone in having a great selection of quality stock. I don't think there will be much separating our brokers next year."
Reflecting on the event and the year that had been, Mr Morgan stated that he couldn't be prouder of his team.
"The brokers smashed 2023/24 out of the park. It's not very common for a business of our age to achieve the growth we did last year. It would not be possible without our amazing team. It was great to get the opportunity to recognise the outstanding work that they've all been doing."
