As hysteria over creepy and scary clown sightings keeps rising in the lead up to Halloween, Vencato has created a cat coloring book in an effort to bring back some old nostalgic Halloween charm. Back in the “good ol’ days”, trick or treaters dressed in cute costumes as they merrily skipped along with Halloween pails brimming with goodies. The author clearly tries to capture some that whimsical appeal in her drawings in her new book “Cute Halloween Cats”. Granted this is yet another coloring book, nevertheless this is a respectful nod to that wonderful era where friends swapped curious Halloween postcards and lit candles at midnight in mirrors to get a glimpse of their partners to be..
This is the 16th book Vencato has authored, and the book’s cover art was created by the author herself.
Vencato has a background in theater design. She graduated from Wimbledon School of Art in London and had started work as a scenic artist at the “Theatre Royal Windsor”, opposite Windsor Castle. She had freelanced around the South East of the UK for a few years, making props and painting backdrops, even working on conference and exhibition sets before moving onto film sets and large premiere parties. She now prefers the calm activity of drawing and coloring and confesses that “… I don’t miss the old theater world at all. It was time for a change and hopefully colorists will love coloring the drawings as much as I love to make them.” Her background helped to shape the drawings as each one tells a story.
When asked about why they wrote the book, Vencato said: “Looking around, it is easy to find many Halloween coloring books available. Some are very sinister while others are just great for family activity sessions, but “Cute Halloween Cats” should appeal to both Halloween and cat fans. ”
Vencato has hopes that the book will bring some nostalgic joy back to Halloween festivities as it is a book that can be enjoyed as a family or with friends.
In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking her dear husband for his inspiration for their part in the creation of the book, saying: “Thanks to my husband Massimo for his love, support and encouragement.”
