The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry reports that the average elementary school student spends 4-6 hours per day watching or using screens - which can rise even higher during the summer months. As such, Balance Adventure Camp believes that it can provide the ideal alternative to phones, tablets, and video games - with its educational program which teaches children practical skills in a fun outdoor environment.
“Balance Adventure Camp combines experiential education, environmental stewardship, and skill development through carefully designed activities that capture children's imagination while building essential life skills,” a spokesperson said.
Children can develop curiosity and ecological understanding through nature exploration, like hiking adventures, wildlife tracking, and plant identification. To instill self-reliance and emergency preparedness, the program also includes survival skills training across topics like fire building, navigation, and farming.
As the organization is interested in developing well-rounded youth, creative expression is a significant portion of each day’s schedule. Such activities can include storytelling, singing, making music, and creating art.
Camp days begin at 8 AM and end at 4 PM throughout the summer season, which is spread across nine weeks, starting June 2nd and ending August 1st. Parents can sign their children up to join for a single week, several weeks, or even the entire two-month period. Sibling discounts and scholarship rates are both available.
