“The Heroes Foundation exists because of people who confronted cancer and fought the good fight. Since 2000, our mission has been to serve the cancer community through support, education and awareness programs, as well as through medical and scientific research. We have carried out this mission by empowering ordinary people to be heroes in the fight against cancer. The fight continues with Project Militia. Launched in 2014, Project Militia is a force of citizen heroes like you, committed to waging a war on cancer in Indiana. These individuals are going to battle by taking it to the streets in a retired military vehicle affectionately called Hero1. As the symbol of Project Militia, Hero1 is as strong and bold as our mission and volunteers. As a way in which we deliver our support to the cancer community, Hero1 serves a practical, tactical role. “
