Earlier today Seattle start-up, Grief Coach, announced the launch of Grief Coach: Spanish Edition, its new Spanish language text service for people who are grieving. For anyone with an interest in grief and mental health support, this launch is worth paying attention to, as it’s set to shake things up.
Grief Coach’s innovative text solution provides grieving people with a powerful alternative to brochures and websites that contain generic grief support tips. Grief Coach CEO, Emma Payne, says that with the launch of Grief Coach: Spanish Edition, many more Americans will now be able to receive texts personalized based on their loss. “Our texts are secure and private, and delivered all year long,” Payne says. “Because there is no timeline for grief.”
Emma Payne continues… “Therapy and support groups are expensive and hard to access, which makes us proud that now Spanish speakers can now sign up for Grief Coach’s accessible, affordable, personalized grief support text service. This comes at a time when millions of Americans are grieving, yet grief support is inaccessible for most Americans. Grief Coach makes it easy for everyone who wants support to get personalized care all year long, straight to their phones.” Unlike generic websites and apps, Grief Coach sends support to grievers, personalized based on age, cause of death, relationship and more. Every subscription also includes grief education, tips and reminders for friends who want to help. Research shows that when people are supported in their grief they are less likely to suffer from depression, illness, substance use, anxiety and more.
Grief Coach was established in January 2018, and has built a product and support model to make sure that nobody ever has to grieve alone. One subscriber recently shared this: “Receiving texts every few days has helped me tremendously. With texts specifically for me and the loss of my Dad, I felt a sense of comfort. I was also able to add my husband to the service so that he could better understand what I was going through and how to help me. We were able to have open conversations about grief. I wasn’t in this alone, and all of my feelings were valid.”
With a tool designed to support both grievers and the people who love them, Grief Coach’s Spanish language text service is already making waves in a sector struggling to meet the growing demand for grief support. Their service is affordable and scalable, and recognizes the importance of including friends and family who want to help.
