Freedom Farm Ministries announced this week they will be changing the name of their weekly radio show and Facebook live from Recovery Talk to Beyond Sobriety.

The ministry began the show in May 2018 to bring help and hope to people affected by drug and alcohol abuse. The show combines informed commentary on current events involving drug and alcohol abuse and treatment as well as interviews with men and women whose lives have been affected by their own abuse or that of a loved one.

According to Freedom Farm Ministries’ Executive Director and show host, Jim Quigley, “Over the past 6 or 8 months, I’ve really been convicted that the conversation surrounding addiction treatment needs to change. Terminology is so important and using the word recovery in the show’s title and in conversations with others about addiction is simply not an accurate representation of what we’re trying to achieve. We don’t want men and women to recover the life they had before their addiction; we want their lives to be transformed through new habits, relationships, thought patterns and reactions to life’s struggles.”

After thoughtful deliberation and consideration, Mr. Quigley and Freedom Farm Ministries decided to change the show’s name from Recovery Talk to Beyond Sobriety, effective immediately.

“Changing the show’s name to Beyond Sobriety tells everyone that watches on Facebook or listens on the radio the show is not about going back, or recovering, anything; it is about going forward,” says Quigley. “We want listeners to be encouraged to pull their day-to-day focus off simply not using drugs or alcohol and, instead, realize that sobriety is just one part of a truly transformed life.”

Freedom Farm Ministries is a not-for-profit religious ministry that operates a year-long Christ-centered drug and alcohol treatment facility in Boone, North Carolina. The ministry began in 2006 from a God-given vision of providing men a way out of the bondage of alcohol and drug addiction through the Person and Power of Jesus Christ.
