Media Prima Bhd has appointed a new independent non-executive chairman of media prima group. Tan Sri Ismee Ismail will be replacing FD Iskandar (Datuk Seri Fateh Iskandar) Mohamed Mansor, who declared to step down from current role to focus on other business association and obligations.
FD Iskandar, 49, believes to give new generation of directors to mould and take the media group forward.
“The group has achieved tremendous growth during good financial times and remained resilient during periods of economic uncertainties. Given the current challenges, Media Prima is taking progressive steps to transform itself into a digital-first media company to be in line with consumers today,” FD Iskandar said in a statement today.
“I have every confidence the group will achieve its targets,” FD Iskandar added.
FD Iskandar also served as chairman of Media Prima’s risk management and nomination and remuneration committees. During the tenure with the group, Fateh Iskandar also sat on the board of the New Straits Times Press Malaysia Bhd from 2009 to 2015.
FD Iskandar is currently the Gloma Bhd’s Group managing director and chief executive officer (CEO), as well as the president of the Real Estate & Housing developers Association Malaysia. A director of Telekom Malaysia Bhd, VADS Bhd and city advisory board member for Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
Meanwhile, Media Prima Group confirmed that Ismee, 52, was appointed to the board of director of Media Prima on June 1.
Ismee was formerly the group managing director and CEO of Lembaga Tabung Haji from 2006 to 2016. Ismee Ismail began the career as a management accountant at Arab Malaysian Development Bhd and later served in key leadership positions with Shell Group of Co in Malaysia including as head of foreign exchange and banking at Shell Malaysia Ltd and group accountant at Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.
Ismee was also involved in the setting up of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd and served as its chief accountant or treasurer and later joined Medical Online (M) Sdn Bhd as senior vice-president.
Ismee is currently serving on the board of TH Plantations Bhd as deputy chairman and non-independent non-executive director. Ismee Ismail is also presently serving several private companies involved in the real estate and hospitality industries.
Media Prima shares closed down 1.5 sen or 1.62% at 91 sen today, with 1.77 million shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM1.01 billion.
