-- Eighty Seven Plus Coffee, launching officially in early 2020, will be the first roaster in the UK to specialize in ultra-speciality coffees. As the name suggests, the online coffee shop will strictly offer coffee which has scored a minimum of 87 points on the SCAA scale, beans of remarkable quality.
Based in Kent, Eighty Seven Plus will be sourcing some of the world’s finest microlot coffees and roasting to order in small batches. Coffee will be shipped the same day as it is roasted and packaged in 100% recyclable eco bags.
As speciality coffee consumption in the UK continues to rise, consumers are not only seeking high calibre beans with unique flavour profiles but are interested in the story behind each coffee. Eighty Seven Plus will offer coffee that is 100% traceable from farm to cup, while ensuring that the farmers are paid significantly higher amounts than the typical Fair Trade prices.
While speciality coffee is available from many coffee roasters, both online and in the high street, the coffee on offer typically scores 80 – 84 points. Eighty Seven Plus will be offering coffee for the connoisseur.
Their founder, Matthew Hiddy, had this to say:
“Here in the UK, we are developing a really exciting coffee scene, much like they have in the US and in Australia. There are some fantastic roasters out there selling wonderful coffee, but we wanted to give people the opportunity to try some of the world’s best. The coffees we have in store will be unique, exciting, and memorable. I think some people out there may not realise quite how good coffee can be, and will be surprised to discover these different flavours inside their cup, and at their ability to discern them.”
