In a recent blog post published on Antoine Dental Center’s website, Dr. Nazari gave essential tips that parents can use to enhance children’s oral care. The Houston dentist explained that children normally do not understand how crucial it is to take care of their teeth, leading to unnecessary dental problems.
Dr. Nazari is also currently running a charitable program for the local Houston Food Bank. He is offering free basic dental cleaning for everyone who would like to make a small donation to the food bank through Antoine Dental. The National Council of La Raza reported that tooth decay is the most common chronic disease in children. It further states that 60% of children are likely to have cavities by the time they reach age 5. The numbers clearly show that children’s oral care is quite neglected since tooth decay is preventable through proper oral care.
In the blog post, Dr. Nazari explained that one way to make dental hygiene easier for children is to teach them good oral habits. This includes showing them the correct way of brushing and flossing their teeth as early as possible. This will eliminate ineffective tooth cleaning practices that lead to tooth decay and other dental problems.
Another suggestion offered by the Houston dentist that any child would love to implement, is to make brushing fun. Parents can do this by creating games or competitions in which children have to brush regularly and properly to win a prize. This way, children will end up taking the responsibility themselves rather than waiting to be pushed to brush their teeth.
According to the blog post, children’s freedom to have a say in their own dental hygiene can also be a fun way of getting them actively involved. For instance, if parents let them choose the kind of toothbrush they want and the toothpaste flavor they prefer, they will look forward to brushing their teeth.
Dr. Nazari founded Antoine Dental Center in 2000, with a vision of having an all-in-one dental center with the capacity to serve patients of all ages, providing a variety of dental and orthodontic services. He is an experienced dentist who has been serving Houston residents for 18 years. He acquired his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas at Houston Dental Branch in 1998. His pursuit of excellence led him to complete over 1,800 hours in continuing education, with over 500 hours in orthodontics, occlusion and TMJ correction alone.
The Houston dentist believes that oral health is best achieved through comprehensive preventative care. He advises parents on smart ways to enhance their children’s oral health and hopes that the staggering statistics on children’s oral health will change for the better.
