-- A new Alzheimer’s book has been launched by author Barbra Cohn, whose family caregivers and health writing has already earned glowing reviews on Amazon for its power and poignancy. More information is available on Barbra’s official website at: https://barbracohn.com.
Barbra Cohn has been a professional writer for 35 years, and has written a wide range of health and travel articles for publications across America. Barbra spent a decade caring for her husband until he died in 2010 and her book, Calmer Waters: The Caregiver’s Journey Through Alzheimer’s and Dementia was written to help other people going through similar circumstances.
She explains that every day she had to brush his teeth, walk with him, and take care of a daily hygiene routine, as well as teach him basic things like pouring a glass of water repeatedly every day. She says that this process can be hard for anyone, and emphasises that her spiritual background enabled her to weather the storms that arose throughout the process.
This background and an ever-evolving philosophy on life and death helped her through the troubled times, and as a health writer, she was able to research caregiver stress and the different modalities that help caregivers while they live with their loved ones slipping away.
Now that Barbra’s husband has passed away, she explains that she wants to help other caregivers reduce the stress of their situation at home and maintain their health and wellbeing. The Calmer Waters book offers information on how to maintain equanimity through the ordeal.
The Alzheimer’s and dementia care book is a handbook for caregivers, and the Amazon page listing explains that it is written with heart and soul, filled with practical tips on how to improve caregiver wellbeing.
