The opening of the bar and grill taps into a broader cultural moment. In 2021, there were more new black-owned businesses proportionate to the total population than at any time in the last quarter-century.

Moreover, according to McKinsey & Company, 68% of Americans now say that social values shape their consumption choices in all sectors, including hospitality, with almost 50% explicitly citing their support for black-owned businesses. As African Americans in Georgia and across the US reclaim their narrative and harness their immense cultural and economic power, Silk At Candler is excited to be joining the ranks of thriving black-owned businesses in Decatur.

The new restaurant offers classic upmarket fare like lobster tails grilled with garlic butter, blackened salmon and porterhouse steaks. However, they are most excited to share their modern interpretations of richly authentic and quintessentially Southern dishes like southern fried whiting and catfish, and their crab bucket, which comes with crab clusters, shrimp, sausage, turkey necks, corn, and potatoes.

In addition to their quality cuisine, Silk At Candler is also pleased to be announcing themselves as Decatur’s latest destination for events and nights out. More information on their events can be accessed on their Instagram page at

The restaurant and lounge has a full upcoming schedule for the month of February. Weekly events include their lunch specials, which run from 12pm to 4pm Monday to Friday, and their daily happy hour, which starts at 4pm and includes beer bucket specials. Every Sunday starting at noon, they also host an extravagant brunch buffet.

Particularly unique are their cards and dominoes game nights and their new Friday night ‘Old School Southern Soul Fish Fry’, where patrons enjoy the freshest seafood and fish, cooked with all the comfort and passed down recipes and flavors of home.

Interested patrons who would like to enjoy the Super Bowl in style can also now book ahead to secure a booth for the restaurant’s February 13 Super Bowl Party.

Silk At Candler is located in the center of Decatur at 2930 Ember Drive.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said, “Silk at Candler is an upscale restaurant and lounge for grown-ups. We offer you steaks, lobster tails, and more. We will give you a high-end experience at every visit and with every meal.”
