The Dartford branch of Winners in the Community coincides with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis in the United Kingdom. With inflation at over 10%, the organisation knows that many vulnerable community members have to make the difficult choice between feeding their families, paying their electricity bills, or filling their cars with fuel.
The charitable agency also understands that many systemic structural forces lead to poverty, isolation and suffering in communities across the UK, like Dartford. As such, their programs utilise a holistic approach to tackle these issues and show how a community can bond to empower itself and change its outcomes for the better.
Winners in the Community focuses on five key issues: establishing food banks and alleviating poverty, tackling homelessness, creating enterprise and employability training opportunities, improving the health, safety and environment of the community and fostering collaboration, inclusion and diversity.
Given these ambitious, transformative programs, the organisation is currently seeking local investment and donations from individuals, small businesses and other active and established community groups. But, most importantly, they are also seeking volunteers who want to join the Community Development Committee and help to direct the efforts of Winners in the Community in Dartford.
