The National Indie Excellence Book Awards contest was created to help establish self-publishing as a proud, legitimate and respectable part of the publishing industry. It is sponsored by Smarketing LLC, a company established in 2007 by Ellen Reid.
Connected by Kat Stiles is the story of three teens who discover they possess superhuman abilities and must work together to stop a telepathic serial killer. It placed as a finalist not only in the National Indie Excellence Award Contests but in the Wishing Shelf Awards as well.
The YA Paranormal Romance Connected appeals to readers who are into super powers, first love and telepathic serial killers all catered toward the teenage genre. Stiles also writes a blog about writing, reading, horror and other random topics.
Stiles describes herself as a super hero geek at heart who grew up watching Spiderman, X-men and Superfriends cartoons. She loved the idea of having super powers. With Connected, she says she tried to keep the abilities as organic as possible, something just a little beyond what a normal human can do.
In her writing, she tries to reflect her somewhat easygoing nature and her belief that it should be fun to read, not a chore. Her goal was to create a straightforward, alternate fictional world readers could lose themselves in for a while.
“I don’t apologize for its lack of deep, thought-provoking story lines or abused, drug-addicted characters,” Stiles says. “My fiction is light, fun, and hopefully you will enjoy it. I’ve met some pretty incredible people in my life, and my experiences greatly influenced the writing of Connected.”
Connected is available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iTunes, and Kobo. Readers can watch a trailer and sign up for Stiles’ newsletter to get a creepy original cut prologue for Connected as well as an automatic entry into monthly giveaways.
