With an emphasis on supporting local communities throughout the Caribbean, the non-profit organization focuses on peace, education health, and cultural understanding, following a template that aligns with the United Nation’s 2030 agenda.
A recent report from the United States Agency of International Development shows that sports programs, workshops, and events provide powerful ways to shape communities positively, helping to develop inclusivity and cooperation between different groups while also building self-esteem. At CSSD, the emphasis is on giving individuals and groups the confidence they need to transform their environments.
“CSSD emphasizes the role of sport in fostering social cohesion and resolving conflicts in Caribbean communities, promoting peace through inclusive sporting activities that bridge divides,” says a spokesperson. “We work to empower young people by providing access to sports education and opportunities, enhancing skills, confidence, and community involvement for a sustainable future.”
Along with facilitating sporting events - including basketball camps, workshops, and tournaments - CSSD actively fosters partnerships among governments, NGOs and sports federations to leverage resources and expertise. They work to ensure the integration of sport in development across the entire region.
Believing that sport is a major tool in creating peace and prosperity, the organization uses their programs to enhance understanding and dialogue, creating peaceful platforms for interaction among diverse groups.
Their multicultural sports camps promote cultural exchange, allowing young people to learn from one another, fostering mutual respect, so that communities can become more stronger and resilient.
