California Teen Center Announces Virtual, In-Person Mental Health Programs

Families whose teenagers need more support than traditional weekly counseling can now access structured outpatient mental health programs through California Teen Center (530) 531-8754, with services available in Yuba City and virtually across California.

-- California Teen Center has announced expanded access to structured adolescent mental health care through its continuum of in-person and virtual outpatient programs for teens ages 12 to 17. The center offers a continuum of care for adolescents ages 12 to 17, including Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP/Day Program), outpatient therapy, step-down care, and a virtual IOP serving families throughout California.

The expansion comes as many families continue seeking flexible mental health treatment options that allow adolescents to remain at home, stay connected to school, and participate in family life while receiving a higher level of clinical care. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in five children and adolescents has a diagnosable mental, behavioral, or developmental disorder. Yet the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry reports that only about half receive the professional treatment they need.

California Teen Center notes that many parents assume the only choices are continuing weekly therapy or seeking inpatient care. Structured outpatient programs provide a middle level of support by offering more frequent clinical treatment while helping teens maintain their daily routines when appropriate.

Depending on each adolescent’s clinical needs, treatment may include Teen IOP, Teen PHP, outpatient therapy, step-down services following a higher level of care, or Virtual IOP for families unable to attend in person. Care may also include individual, group, and family therapy, psychiatric oversight, and academic coordination to support teenagers experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, school avoidance, self-harm, emotional regulation difficulties, and other behavioral health concerns.

“Choosing the right level of care can feel overwhelming for families,” Tiffany Komba, Clinical Director at California Teen Center, said. “Our role is to help parents understand their options and recommend a treatment approach that provides additional support while allowing many teens to continue participating in family life and their education.”
