According to the Canadian Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 8 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, with nearly 30,000 new cases diagnosed annually. As the most common cancer among Canadian men, prostate cancer affects countless individuals and families, making the support provided by PROSTAID Calgary more important than ever.
“We are excited to continue offering these meetings and to support both those who are battling prostate cancer and those caring for them,” said a PROSTAID Calgary spokesperson. “Our meetings not only provide valuable information but also foster a sense of community. Our aim is to ensure that no one facing prostate cancer has to do so alone.”
Celebrating over 30 years of service to the Calgary community, PROSTAID Calgary continues its mission to offer resources, support, and connection to those impacted by prostate cancer. The monthly meeting is part of their ongoing commitment to create a safe, supportive environment for men and their families to navigate the challenges of living with and recovering from prostate cancer.
The May meeting will feature a guest speaker from the medical community, providing attendees with the latest insights on treatment options, mental health, and other key topics relevant to prostate cancer survivors and caregivers.
Meetings are held both in-person and online, making it accessible to all members of the community. There is no fee or charge, and they take place at the CKE Community Centre, located at 1015 73 Ave SW, Calgary, AB. Meetings are also available via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
