Bee Cave, Texas, 10/18/22— Bristol Family Eyecare has brought on three new doctors: Amber Nelson, O.D., at Lakeway 620 and Bee Cave; Allison Orr, O.D., at Bee Cave; and Maha Tufail, O.D., at Georgetown. The addition of three skilled optometrists will bolster Bristol Family Eyecare’s mission to provide thorough, advanced care backed by quality service, enthusiasm, and dedication to local communities.
Dr. Nelson completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences at Texas A&M University and went on to achieve her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude. A Texas native, she is eager to join the team at Bristol Family Eyecare as part of a tightly knit work family.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Bristol Family Eyecare!” said Dr. Nelson. “It’s wonderful to work with people who truly care about their patients and recognize the impact optometry can have on their lives. I’m really looking forward to using my experience with myopia management to help kids see and grow!”
After her undergrad at Chapman University, Dr. Orr earned her O.D. at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshal B. Ketchum University. She then completed an optometric residency in pediatrics at the University of Houston, and a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry. Her diverse training enables her to work with patients with brain injuries and binocular vision problems, ranging from athletes to service members.
“I enjoy the family-first ethos at Bristol Family Eyecare,” said Dr. Orr. “I love teaching my patients about their eyes and vision, to the point of wanting to ‘nerd out’ about how vision affects all parts of your life. I can’t wait to meet new patients of all ages. Most of all, I’m honored to be joining a team as caring, practical, and knowledgeable as ours!”
Dr. Tufail graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston. After her interest in the field was spurred by her older brother optometrist, she earned her O.D. at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She has expertise in specialty contact lenses and fittings, including scleral lenses for irregular corneas. Dr. Tufail is also quite multilingual, speaking Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, English, and some Spanish.
“I love to educate patients on how optometry affects their eye health, and how we can manage eye conditions together,” said Dr. Tufail. “Bristol Family Eyecare’s glaucoma management and specialty dry eye treatments really improve our patient’s quality of life. I’m so excited to be part of a team that always puts their best foot forward, and where everyone takes the time to really connect with patients!”
Bristol Family Eyecare’s three locations across Texas are open and taking appointments with their new doctors.
