As part of their ongoing editorial series exploring design-driven innovation in the marine sector, Botin Partners is spotlighting their recent collaborations with Baltic Yachts and Wally Yachts in the modern trend toward lightweight construction, hydrofoil technologies, and adaptable race-readiness.

-- Naval architecture studio Botin Partners is earning international recognition in the performance yacht design industry with two notable projects: the Baltic 111 Raven and the Wallyrocket 51. Together, these vessels highlight a broader industry shift toward lightweight materials, aerodynamic precision, and design centred on speed, sustainability, and form.

Further information can be found on Botin Partners’ website.

Delivered by Botin and Baltic Yachts in 2023, the Baltic 111 Raven is a 34-meter hydrofoil-assisted superyacht. Built with a carbon composite hull and outfitted with side-mounted, adjustable hydrofoils, Raven achieves both lift and lateral stability without compromising on aerodynamics. In early sea trials, it reportedly reached speeds in the high 20-knot range.

Minimally styled with bamboo and rattan interiors, Raven also features a distinctive “bird’s nest” cockpit which is notable for offering an elevated view during the yacht’s high-speed runs. Baltic Yacht’s bold approach with this latest model was recognised at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards, where Raven received the coveted Judge’s Special Award.

Whilst bestowing recognition for their comfortable sailing vessels, Botin Partners is also leading the next generation of competitive sailing racers. The company’s collaboration with Wally Yachts resulted in the Wallyrocket 51, a sleek racing yacht designed for competition under both IRC and ORC rules.

Unveiled during the 2025 ORC Central and Southern Tyrrhenian Championship, the 15.5-meter carbon fiber yacht features a trim tab on the keel’s trailing edge. This rarely seen feature in offshore racing designs enables the Wallyrocket to improve tacking and reduce drag. Fast and lightweight, the vessel is constructed using pre-preg carbon, Nomex, and Corecell. This makes the Wallyrocket 51’s weight just 6.3 tonnes, which is remarkably low for something this high-performance.

These latest marine industry design advancements, as demonstrated by the Raven and Wallyrocket 51, are a reflection of the growing demand for carbon fibre yachts that prioritise performance, material efficiency, and sustainable construction methods from owners and the sailing community at large. Botin Partners is becoming a key player in the superyacht and competitive sailing sectors as 2025 yacht design trends progressively favour lightweight construction, hydrofoil technologies, and adaptable race-readiness.
