This certificate program’s launch is set to give individuals a working knowledge of the said technology. The courses are powered by blocksEDU, produced by the Emerging Technologies Academy, and certified by the Foundational Technologies Institute.
Blockchain is a database of records that are linked using a branch of math called cryptography. The blockchain was invented by a person or group of people using the name Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 to serve as the public transaction ledger of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.
The first of the six courses that lead to a micro-credential is “Introduction to Blockchain.” It shares where the employment opportunities exist in blockchain technology. Industries that are hiring blockchain specialists include supply chain, medical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, fashion, cross-border payments, food safety, humanitarian crises, and jewelry.
Other courses look into the history, various angles, and an examination of blockchain and cryptocurrency. Students will learn blockchain’s purpose, key terms related to blockchain technology, and features in the technology.
Other course topics covered in this certification include distributed databases, blockchain versus Bitcoin, blockchains’ value proposition as a technology and a disruptor, and its impact on all aspects of business and society. The student will be exposed to the different blockchain networks, including public, private, consortium, and permissioned, and what the networks are used for and the value they bring to society.
A significant portion of the curriculum is devoted to hyperledger applications and tools. The instructor explains the differences between hyperledger versus permissionless blockchains, cryptocurrency tokens, and smart contracts.
Several other micro-credentials are also available through LearnDay Thinkific, including Corporate Social Responsibility. Details about the courses needed to complete this path may be viewed at https://learnday.thinkific.com/bundles/CSR-Conscious-Capitalism-People-Planet-and-Profit
The launch of this mini-certification path gives those interested in blockchain a good starting point at an affordable cost.
