The site explains that White Rabbit has identified five main challenges to the film and television industry that it aims to solve with its new platform.
The first is that too few filmmakers make money from digital distribution. Secondly, revenue lacks transparency and cash flow immediacy, and it’s hard to distinguish between pirates and fans.
Often, it’s difficult for consumers to watch the content they would like to, particularly when they live in a different country from which the show originates. Fans are therefore forced to break the law to see their favorite film or series, either because they can’t get access to the content, they can’t pay for it, or it’s not reasonably accessible to them.
Another challenge is the fact that there is less choice of content as closed server subscription services produce more of their own and buy less. Further to this, the digital distribution paradox is in full effect, meaning there is a lack of competition in global digital distribution, which then slows UI innovation.
White Rabbit aims to solve these issues through its streaming platform. It is a browser based plugin that recognizes the content people watch without adding another subscription to sign up to.
Through this method, it can separate distribution from payment, allowing it to offer one simply payments system but an infinite number of viewing experiences.
This allows the system to track what people watch and deduct payment from users after they watch it. This is then directly transferred to the rights holders, allowing creators to get rewarded for their work in real time.
