Earlier today, MedicareWire, a senior health advocacy website, announced the immediate availability of its senior dental insurance finder tool. The new catalog of dental plans is designed to help seniors with Medicare benefits find and enroll in the best, most affordable dental plan available in their area.
The new senior dental insurance tool is available at: https://medicarewire.com/dental-insurance/.
“We created our senior dental insurance finder to help seniors, with all types of Medicare coverage, find and compare the best dental plans available in their local market,” said David Bynon, founder at MedicareWire.com. “Our finder tool shows seniors the most popular DSP, HMO, PPO and indemnity dental insurance and discount dental plans available in all 50 states.”
Traditional Medicare and Medigap plans do not include coverage for routine dental care, including cleanings, fillings and tooth extractions. And, most Medicare Advantage plans that include dental coverage have extremely limited benefits. A recent study of Medicare Part C plans highlighted the low coverage by showing that, on average, plans with oral health benefits offer the beneficiary just $700 or less coverage per year. For most seniors this level of coverage is significantly less than their actual dental care costs.
The study examined nationwide costs on common dental procedure used by seniors ages 65 plus, including crowns ($1000), root canals ($700-$900), implants ($1,700 per tooth), bridges ($500-$1200), and dentures ($1275-$2750 per upper or lower denture). All of the top dental procedures examined cost more than the annual coverage limit offered by Medicare Part C plans. The limited coverage causes a serious out-of-pocket impact for most seniors, forcing many to go without the care they need to maintain good oral health.
Most health experts agree it’s virtually impossible to maintain good health if your oral health isn’t what it’s supposed to be. Many recent studies show a direct correlation between regular dental care and the overall health of the body. Seniors simply can’t skip regular dental care and expect to remain healthy.
“In many respects, your mouth is the path to overall good health and wellness. We are concerned that most people who join a Medicare Advantage plan with dental benefits will mistakenly believe they’re health insurance covers the cost of dental restoration work, including worn or missing teeth replaced,” explained Bynon. “We’re here to inform seniors and offer alternatives for additional dental coverage and discounts, so that all seniors can maintain their oral health.”
The new MedicareWire dental insurance and discount dental plan catalog features a wide range of cost-saving products ranging in price from $125 to $199 for an individual and $179 to $299 for a household. Dental discount plans offer savings from 10 to 60 percent, depending on the procedure and dentist. Plus, many DSPs offer vision and hearing discounts, which are not included in most Medicare Advantage plans and most seniorts need. Popular providers include CVS, Aetna, Careington, Cigna and iDental.
The MedicareWire dental product catalog also has dental plan offerings from top insurance carriers like Aetna, Cigna, Careington and Spirit Dental. Annual dental coverage ranges from $750 to $5,000 with monthly premiums as low as $38.
