Four signature flavors are available to Albertsons and Safeway patrons: Hardwood Double Smoked Maple and Brown Sugar, Jalapeno Applewood, Hardwood Double Smoked Peppered, and Thick Cut Hardwood Double Smoked Bacon. According to the brand’s spokesperson, each variety reflects the quality standards that have characterized the brand for over 75 years and endeared it to bacon lovers across the country.
“Our goal is pretty simple: make our products more accessible to as many families as possible,” the spokesperson said. “Now, getting your hands on handcrafted bacon is just a matter of driving to your nearest Safeway or Albertsons store.”
They added that the decision also makes sense growth-wise, as demand for gourmet bacon is expected to rise in 2025 on the back of increased interest in “innovative” products.
Bart's Bacon has carved a name for itself within the artisanal meat segment owing to its unique process. Besides using only premium farm-sourced pork cuts, the brand employs a traditional brining method in large stone crocks, followed by double smoking over real wood—a careful process that creates the distinctive texture and flavor profile that define its products.
"You can't rush good bacon" remains the company's guiding principle, established by Bart's grandfather, who first created the recipe as a master butcher. “This philosophy emphasizes allowing proper time for flavor development during brining and smoking, and this is what we’ve been following since the inception of the brand,” the spokesperson explained.
The family business began when Bart's grandfather developed his bacon recipe using a specific blend of salt, brown sugar, and select spices. The fourth generation now participates in operations, continuing the tradition while steadily expanding to new markets.
Currently available in over 200 stores, Bart's Bacon continues to grow while adhering to the processing methods its founder laid out over half a century ago. According to its spokesperson, the expansion to new stores in Arizona and Colorado represents the latest chapter in the brand's ongoing story.
