Lotus Ministry Trust's recent work responds to urgent data: approximately 23.6 million people in Bangladesh face food insecurity, including nearly one million Rohingya refugees reliant on humanitarian support.
As such, their program centers on providing staple items such as rice, lentils, vegetables, cooking oil, and spices suited to regional preferences, ensuring recipients receive meals that are both health-conscious and aligned with familiar food traditions. These meals help reduce malnutrition rates and improve overall health among recipients, particularly benefiting children who require proper nutrition for healthy development.
"We believe food relief must respect local traditions while meeting essential nutritional requirements," said a representative from Lotus Ministry Trust. "These staples form the foundation of our packages, supplemented with ingredients that complete a locally relevant meal."
To maximize reach and impact, distribution is conducted through a network of local volunteers who are familiar with community needs. Food is delivered at key access points such as schools, community centers, and places of worship. Special delivery services also support elderly, disabled, and homebound individuals unable to travel.
