Top-reviewed full-service auto service and repair shop in Amarillo, TX reminds car and truck owners to schedule vehicle service before record summer travel season.

2021 is poised to be the “Year of the Road Trip.” As such, Aardvark Automotive in Amarillo, Texas suggests drivers review these summer travel and safety tips before heading out on the road with their families.

“The Memorial Day holiday travel data clearly shows that there is a pent-up demand for road trips, due to the pandemic. This year, hundreds of millions of Americans will opt to travel by car, and our team at Aardvark is ready to get their cars ready for their road trips. This year, we have designed custom Summer Safety Tips that will help prevent car problems when traveling,” said Brandon Anderson, Owner of Aardvark Automotive.

The Summer Safety Tips suggested by Aardvark Automotive include a 72-point automotive inspection, checking filters, hoses, and belts and other system tests:

Air conditioning system

Aardvark Automotive expert technicians can look over your A/C system to see if it is working properly or diagnose any existing problems.

Cooling system

Did you know that overheating is the number one reason that cars break down in the summer and that can lead to engine damage? Aardvark Automotive can inspect the system, top off the coolant, and recommend a flush if necessary to help prevent this from happening in the hot Texas heat.

Engine performance and filters

To make sure your vehicle’s engine is in good working order, Aardvark also recommends an inspection of the air, fuel, and PVC filters. Thanks to the pervasive dry and dusty conditions in the Texas Panhandle, these filters may need to be changed more frequently than indicated in the owner’s manual.

Braking system

Your vehicle’s brakes and rotors should be inspected, and/or replaced, if necessary, to ensure safety before you hit the road for your summer travel.

Battery

In this top-notch world of high performance and electric cares today, the battery is one of the most important components to the car. A battery must be properly maintained to provide the correct voltage and amperage to sustain the life of all the computers and modules that now operate our high-tech vehicles. Aardvark Automotive technicians can inspect your battery to confirm it is performing properly.

Belts and hoses

Belts and hoses are vital to the operation of many functions on your vehicle. Aardvark’s certified technicians can inspect the belts and hoses to identify any that are cracking, fraying, brittle, or bulging. In addition, technicians can look for leaks in the radiator, hose pump, and around hose clamps.

Front and Rear Suspension

Aardvark Automotive in Amarillo can inspect your front and rear suspension to ensure the system is in good working order.

According to Anderson, there are additional summer car care and safety tips that car owners can follow to keep their automobiles running safely this summer. “If you’re due for an oil change, make sure you get it before you leave. If you overlook the maintenance of oil services, this can lead to damaging or costly repairs to your car,” he said. “All motorists should remember to check the tires for appropriate tread, and have the tires rotated if it has been a while,” he continued.

Likewise, Anderson encourages travelers to check their windshield wipers before hitting the road. “Summer storms can and do spring up with little or no warning, so make sure your wipers aren’t cracked or crumbling. When in doubt, buy a new set of wiper blades.”

Remaining visible to other travelers is also essential, so Anderson recommends inspecting headlights and brake lights before leaving for your summer road trip. “Look for dirt residue and buildup. If you have dirty lights, use a clean moist cloth to clean them. Be sure to replace any dim- or burned-out bulbs, as well.”

To keep your car looking its best, even after a long trip in the scorching sun, Anderson recommends all owners wax or otherwise protect the body of the car before heading out on a road trip. “This simple action can help protect the paint from dust, dirt, smog, and the sun’s powerful rays,” he explained.

“Our team at Aardvark Automotive wants to make sure your summer road trip this year is safe, and memorable—for the right reasons. We are here to help families avoid preventable breakdowns,” Anderson said.

Continuing he added, “As a reminder, once summer is over, we’ll be participating once again in the Wheels to Prosper program and are hoping another good Samaritan will donate a sedan after their summer travel.”
